Material request

What one space asks for: a list of catalog items with quantities, submitted by the person responsible for that space.

Why it matters operationally

This is the atom of the whole process. Every downstream number — the consolidated total, the delivery schedule, the closeout reconciliation — is built from approved requests. When requests live in email attachments, every one of those numbers has to be rebuilt by hand each time anything changes, which is the actual cost of doing this in spreadsheets.

How Roadmap handles it

Submitted when the requester is ready, negotiated in place, and approved as a single act. A space can carry as many requests as the work needs — different builds at different times — and each has one current state and a full history. Each can be unapproved, revised and approved again without anything downstream having to be rebuilt.
